- In 2007 Manganese sales were valued at over $141 million for
the year.
- Manganese is one of the most widely used alloy elements in the
world, essential to the manufacturing of steel. By reducing
unwanted sulphur and oxygen and preventing brittleness, a stronger,
longer lasting steel is produced.
- Consolidated Minerals' Woodie Woodie mine is the sole producer
of manganese in Western Australia
- Manganese is mined using traditional open-pit mining
methods. The ore is sources from multiple open pits and
blended to maintain consistent product specifications.
