Enriching Science Unlocking Resources
Terms of Reference
Enriching Science Unlocking Resources (ESUR) forum acknowledges the considerable efforts of stakeholders in the field of science promotion and as a forum with which the various stakeholders can communicate and engage in a more strategic and informed way. ESUR will be able to provide the one message from a diverse group of non competitors that share the common interest of science promotion when advocacy is required.
Objectives
To expand the pool of students with interest and academic strength in science and increased science literacy generally utilizing the context of the WA resources sector. In doing so, the group will:
- Identify issues and areas of common ground and seek opportunities for collaboration whilst minimizing the risk of duplication of services;
- Act as communication conduit for members and their representative groups.
Membership
Membership of the ESUR committee currently comprises of the following stakeholders who have an interest in science promotion, but not be limited to:
- Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association Limited (APPEA)
- The Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia
- Australian Prospectors and Mining Hall of Fame
- Catholic Education Office of WA
- Centre for Learning Technology at UWA (SPICE program)
- Centre for Sustainable Resource Processing
- The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA
- Curriculum Council
- Curtin University of Technology
- Department of Education and Training
- Earth Sciences WA
- Engineers Australia
- Parker Centre
- Science and Mathematics Education Centre (SMEC)
- Science Teachers Association of WA
- Scitech
- TAFE WA
The group has been created to include leading education groups in WA with a connection to the resources sector. Through the development of the group, CME hopes to participate more collaboratively and effectively in addressing the resource related education demands of Western Australia.
Representation is on a voluntary basis with organizations having the opportunity to make their own individual decisions.
