GIS integrates the areas of computing, geography, cartography, environmental science and statistics, and is concerned with the collection, analysis, modelling and presentation of all types of spatial data. It is a rapidly growing area, and is used to solve problems in an increasing range of applications where elements such as location, spatial distribution and geographic information are important.
